Elizabeth Pearce
Elizabeth Pearce (Democratic Party) was the Vermont Treasurer. She assumed office in 2011. She left office on January 5, 2023.
Pearce (Democratic Party) ran for re-election for Vermont Treasurer. She won in the general election on November 3, 2020.
Biography
Before serving in statewide office, Pearce worked in government finance for more than 30 years across New England. She earned a B.A. from the University of New Hampshire and went on to serve as a fiscal officer with the Massachusetts Department of Social Services and as a project director for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Human Services.
She also has experience working in local government, first as the Accounting Manager and Financial Operations Manager for the Town of Hartford, Conn., and later as deputy comptroller for the Town of Greenburgh, New York. Pearce also served as deputy treasurer for over seven years.[1]

Political career
Vermont Treasurer (2011-2023)
Pearce was first appointed in January 2011 by Governor Peter Shumlin to replace Jeb Spaulding, who was appointed secretary of administration.[1] Prior to her appointment to statewide office, she had served as deputy treasurer.
Pearce ran successfully for election to a full-term as state treasurer in the 2012 general election on November 6, 2012. She won re-election in 2014, 2016, and 2018.

Pearce filed to run for re-election in the 2016 election as treasurer of Vermont.[2] She defeated challenger Richard Dunne in the August 9 Democratic primary election. No Republican candidates filed to run against Pearce. She will face Liberty Union Party candidate Murray Ngoima in the November general election.

Pearce ran for election to the office of Vermont Treasurer. Pearce won the Democratic nomination in the unopposed primary on August 26. The general election took place on November 4, 2014.

2012
Pearce won election as Vermont Treasurer in 2012. She ran unopposed in the August 28 Democratic primary.[3] Republican Wendy Wilton and Progressive Party candidate Don Schramm were also unopposed in their respective parties' primaries. The four candidates, including Liberty Union Party candidate Jessica Diamondstone, ran in the general election on November 6, 2012.[4] Pearce defeated her challengers to win re-election in the general election.[5]

Pearce's 2012 re-election campaign was endorsed by the Vermont National Education Association, the state's largest union.[6]

In January 2011, Governor Peter Shumlin named deputy treasurer Pearce to the position of state treasurer to fill the vacancy left by former officeholder Jeb Spaulding's appointment as secretary of administration.[1]
