Blessing Oluwadare completed Ballotpedia's Candidate Connection survey in 2023. The survey questions appear in bold and are followed by Oluwadare's responses. Candidates are asked three required questions for this survey, but they may answer additional optional questions as well.
My name is Blessing Oluwadare from Edgewood Maryland, am a mother of 3 kids graduated from Strayer University had my bachelor's in business administration also my Master from the school as Information security and Assurances, have been in the United state for 12 years. Am currently working for state and one of the candidates for US house Maryland district 1.
I will be more aware of people opinions and needs and be able to advocate for them in Washington. Also, one of my major job duties will be to raise revenue through taxes. make the whole communities happy and also will like to hear their voice and attends to their needs.
I am hard working and never give up.I am always saying kind and motivating things to people. I always love helping people. I am not lazy, and I want people to believe in themselves and to have a growth mindset
I will participate in committees to study bills, hold public hearings, get expert testimony and listen to votes so that legislation can be passed. Also make sure we have solid health coverage for people which they can benefit from it.
I am passionate about the three things I noted above. Let’s attract new business that isn’t in our state and offer an opportunity. We can also offer tax credits. We need to increase our industry along with population. In doing this, the housing market will improve, schools will be full, and more money will be spent in More people also means more taxpayers in our state. The solution is, more taxpayers, not more taxes. We need to have effective rehab and work to get the users to be productive citizens. We need to effectively reduce and eventually stop abortion. Especially tax funded abortion! The drug crisis is another disrupting and crushing blow to communities, families and businesses. We have to take control needle exchange along with the drug paraphernalia that is included with the needles.

Communication: Working in the public sector, I will likely meet with people from lots of different industries and backgrounds.
Research: In many public policy roles, I will need to undertake research to support my ideas. This involves gathering and analyzing data and using it to advise stakeholders on decisions.
Attention to detail: When you work in policy, you must have a good eye for detail. Public policy decisions have large implications for society’s progress and wellbeing and therefore need accurate, thorough research and supporting evidence behind them.

Evidence-based policymaking: Assessing the potential outcomes of certain laws is an important part of public policy strategy and research. To do this, you will need to draw on facts and evidence to support your proposals and make them stronger and more effective.

High energy, a charismatic or approachable personality and the ability to navigate bureaucratic channels are traits that help United States senators succeed. Senators represent the interests of their states’ citizens, write and support legislation and vote on bills. They divide their time between their home states and Washington, D.C., and spend considerable time meeting with constituents and fellow lawmakers and attending Senate sessions.
Serving on one or more legislative committees is an important part of a state senator's job. Committees have regularly scheduled meetings to review proposed legislation. At each meeting, committee members listen to presentations from bill sponsors and public testimony from lobbyists and other interested parties. Senators discuss new bills among themselves, offer opinions and propose amendments. They vote on each bill with their recommendations for action by the senate, such as not passing a law or passing a law as amended by the committee. After the bill clears a committee, it may be sent to another committee or to the senate floor for a vote.
If asked what the last book you read was, I would say it was a book called “The Catcher in the Rye” by J.D.Salinger. 2.Books are a great way to learn about different cultures, religions, and lifestyles. 3.Reading can help you escape from the reality of your everyday life. 4.Reading can also help you learn new things.it is an interesting book that tells the story of a teenager who is going through a lot of changes.
a filibuster is a technical tool to extend debate, allowing one or more senators to delay or entirely prevent a vote on a given proposal. Without the filibuster, it is possible for a majority party to pass legislation without bipartisan support. The filibuster is a way for a relatively small group of senators to block some action by the majority. The filibuster rule allows a minority of 41 senators.
My favorite Joke is when I first entered a plane in my life and am trying to pee, I didn't know there is restroom in the plane, and I called the flight attendances in the plane can you tell the pilot to come down I need to pee. and they were all laughing at me says the restroom is here you can go ahead and pee.
The American Bar Association has recommended the following eight criteria for evaluating candidates for state judicial office: integrity; legal knowledge and ability; professional experience; judicial temperament; diligence; health; financial responsibility; and public service. A few of these are somewhat puzzling—such as “health” and “financial responsibility”—and at any rate, it is unclear how the average voter would be able to evaluate a candidate on almost any of these grounds.
is the most important aspect of advocacy. Relationships with legislators will provide you with opportunities to work more closely with them to get bills introduced, assist in drafting bill language, shape the debate and, ultimately, get legislation signed into law.
compromise is necessary and desirable in a democracy – most Americans usually agree. But particular compromises are contestable – most Americans usually want to contest them. Within limits, a popular posture in democratic politics is: say yes to compromise, but no to compromises.
Yes. Political compromise is the outcome of recognizing, understanding, and respecting that we all have individual views and priorities. Political compromise is the hallmark of an intelligent, educated citizenry. The opposite of political compromise, digging in your heels and refusing to acknowledge the views of others, is immature, unintelligent, belligerent, and ultimately completely unproductive.
The Senate is governed by the Constitution, a set of standing rules, precedents established in the course of the legislative process, and special rules of procedure adopted by statute for particular types of legislation. These rules determine how bills and resolutions are moved towards passage, the structure of Senate committees, how debate proceeds on the chamber floor, and how members cast votes.
The Constitution gives the Senate the power to approve, by a two-thirds vote, treaties made by the executive branch. The Senate has rejected relatively few of the hundreds of treaties it has considered, although many have died in committee or been withdrawn by the president. The Senate may also amend a treaty or adopt changes to a treaty. The president may also enter into executive agreements with foreign nations that are not subject to Senate approval.
Under the Constitution, the House of Representatives has the power to impeach a government official, in effect serving as prosecutor. The Senate has the sole power to conduct impeachment trials, essentially serving as jury and judge. Since 1789 the Senate has tried 20 federal officials, including three presidents.
Several of the biggest challenges ahead will be caused by either misuse of technological advances or the advances themselves. Others will be the result of overuse of natural resources and climate change. Others yet will reflect either cyclical economic forces or shifts in demographics and societal norms.

Campaign website
Oluwadare’s campaign website stated the following:
“
Affordable Healthcare
In congress, Blessing Oluwadare will be committed to bringing down the costs of healthcare and lowering the cost of insurance. This includes preventing insurance companies from increasing premiums and deductibles while reducing coverage. She will continue to fight for paid family and medical leave, so when someone is sick, they stay home and keep us all safe. Blessing will vote to cap the cost of critical prescription drugs and insulin, and she will defend the Affordable Care Act and work every day to expand on it.
Serve the Underserved
We will improve resources and opportunities for undeserved people in Maryland with access to insurance, jobs, tax-breaks, and housing.
Protect Working Class
People that are working deserve livable wages and should not continue to suffer at the hands of self-serving politicians and lobbyists.
Tax Reform
Corporations should be taxed fairly and there should be tax relief for small business owners. We need to reduce taxes for the working class and allow families to to keep more of their hard-earned money to pay down debt, save, and also invest.
Creating Jobs
Blessing’s plan includes creating more job opportunities for under-served communities. Connecting low-skilled workers with training for high-skilled jobs. We can — and we must — continue fighting to create well-paying jobs with good benefits in Maryland.
There are millions of people who are working in low-paying jobs because they don’t have the skills to compete for the higher-skilled jobs that employers are struggling to fill. To that end, it’s more companies to recruit from talent pools they may not have previously considered. There is a common saying that talent is equally distributed, but opportunity is not. There should be a priority to create more opportunities for the under-served. It is also equally important that all industries are representative of the communities they serve.
Grow Our Economy
Economic development should always be a priority. We should invest in the top economic factors such as education and training, natural resources, power, transportation, and communication. We have to be environment-friendly, support early education, and be better neighbors. Blessing Oluwadare believes that the economy should work for everyone.[2]
