James Owens is the superintendent of the Centennial School District. Owens was appointed on July 1, 2021. His previous experience includes serving as assistant superintendent, Director of Human Resources, a principal, and a teacher within the Centennial School District.[1][2]

Past superintendents

  • Paul E. Coakley was the superintendent of the Centennial School District from July 2016 until July 1, 2021.[3] Coakley was originally named interim superintendent in July 2016 and later appointed his own permanent successor on July 1, 2017. Coakley's previous career experience includes working as the district's assistant superintendent/human resources director and as a principal in the Rainier School District.[4]

The Centennial School District school board consists of seven members elected to four-year terms. Four are elected at large, and three are elected by district.[5]

Members of the Centennial School District school board are elected to four-year terms. Three members on the board must reside in the zone they wish to represent and be elected by the district at large. Four members shall be elected at large. Three or four seats are up for election on a staggered basis every odd-numbered year in May.[5]

Four seats on the board were up for general election on May 20, 2025. The filing deadline was March 20, 2025.
