Four seats on the Central Bucks School Board were up for election on November 5, 2013. The candidate field was narrowed in a primary election held on May 21, 2013
Jerel P. Wohl, Paul B. Faulkner, Stephen Corr and John Gamble ran unopposed and won the Region 4, Region 5, Region 7 and Region 9 seats.
About the district
Central Bucks School District covers the boroughs of Chalfont, Doylestown and New Britain and Buckingham Township, Doylestown Township, New Britain Township, Plumstead Township, Warrington Township and Warwick Township in Bucks County, which is located in eastern Pennsylvania. The county has a population of 627,053.[1]
Demographics
As of 2013, the county outperformed the state in education and median household income. According to the 2010 Census, the percentage of residents with a high school degree (92.4%) was higher than the state of Pennsylvania (87.9%) and the percentage of residents over 25 with a bachelor's degree or higher was higher in Bucks County (34.7%) compared to the state overall (26.7%). The median household income in Bucks County was $76,019 compared to Pennsylvania's statewide median of $51,651.[1]

Method of board member selection
The Central Bucks School Board consists of nine members elected to four-year terms. The members of the board represent certain regions in the district and are elected by voters in those regions. The primary election for the Central Bucks School Board was held on May 21, 2013 and the general election was held on November 5, 2013. Four seats were up for election on November 5, 2013 and the remaining five seats were up for election in November 3, 2015.[3]

What was at stake?
Four seats, including President Stephan Corr's and Vice President Paul Faulkner's seats, were at stake in this election. All four incumbents, Stephan Corr, Paul Faulkner, John Gamble and Jerel P. Wohl sought re-election to their seats.[5]

Additional elections on the ballot
In addition to the school board race, residents of Bucks County had statewide, countywide, and citywide items on the ballot. They voted on a Judge of the Superior Court in a statewide race. They also voted for attorney general, sheriff, prothonotary, recorder of deeds, controller, and four district judges in a countywide race. There were also mayoral, council, auditor, judge of election, and inspector of election races in various townships and boroughs.[7]
