A City of Coalinga Utility Users Tax, Measure P ballot question was on the November 4, 2014 election ballot for voters in the city of Coalinga in Fresno County, California. It was approved.

Measure P authorized the city to impose a 5.5 percent utility users tax in the city. The tax was designed to be a special tax, with revenue dedicated to funding police, fire protection and emergency medical services. Utility user taxes and fees in California can be applied to the following services: electricity, gas, water, sewer, telephone, sanitation and tv.[1]

A two-thirds (66.67%) vote was required for the approval of Measure P.

The question on the ballot:[1]

To preserve the safety and quality of life of the citizens of the City of Coalinga, shall the City enact a Utility Users Tax in the amount of 5.5%, with certain exemptions for business and low income seniors, with all revenues dedicated to finance public safety services such as law enforcement, fire protection, and emergency medical response?[2]
