A City of Seal Beach Uniform Height Limit, Measure Z ballot question was on the November 4, 2008 ballot for voters in the City of Seal Beach in Orange County, California, where it was approved.[1]
Measure Z limits the maximum height of residences in the Old Town Area to 25 feet.[2]
The City of Seal Beach, located far north in Orange County, has been described as a "classic California beach city." The Old Town area in Seal Beach is several city blocks long. It ends on "the beautiful beach which is known for its wooden pier; the second longest pier in California. The beach is a favorite spot for families to picnic, fly kites, sunbathe, swim, bodyboard, or fish. It is also a favorite spot for sandcastle building as it has been ranked as having the best sand around by professional sculptors." The Old Town area has also been characterized as having "charming beach cottages and custom homes" and "little locally-owned boutiques, gift shops and restaurants."[3]
