This measure sought to replace and increase the current police levy to one set at a rate of $.34 per $100 of assessed property value for a further three years in order to continue to pay for police protection services in the township.[2]

The question on the ballot:
A replacement of 3.1 mills of an existing levy and an increase of 0.3 mill to constitute tax for the benefit of Clay Township for the purpose of police protection: Motor vehicles, communications, payment of salaries or equipment used directly in the operation of the police department, ambulance/emergency medical services by a police department, at a rate not exceeding 3.4 mills for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to $0.34 for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for three years, commencing in 2011, first due in calendar year 2012.[3] |
