County Commission increase of Members (November 2009)

There will be a County Commission increase of Members proposition on the November 3 ballot in Sweetwater County.

This is a special election that was made possible by a committee that went and acquired signatures to hold this election in order to vote if the County Commission should be increased from three to five members. There have been other instances where people sought to get a proposition on the ballot concerning the increase of members, but this is the first time it has been achieved. Advocates say the county needs five members because there is too much work for just three people. If the vote passes then the new seats on the commission would be at=large positions.
