David Sypolt (Republican Party) (also known as Dave) was a member of the West Virginia State Senate, representing District 14. He assumed office in 2006. He left office on December 1, 2022.

Sypolt (Republican Party) ran for re-election to the West Virginia State Senate to represent District 14. He won in the general election on November 6, 2018.

Biography

Sypolt earned his A.S. in land surveying and regents from Glenville State College in 1988. He went on to receive his B.A. from Glenville State College in 2004.

Sypolt became a registered football official for the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC). He also became a licensed ham radio operator, callsign KC8YSO, as well as an NRA Certified Pistol Safety Instructor. He has worked in independent mapping and as a cartographic consultant. He was also a curriculum advisor for both Glenville State College and Fairmont State University. Sypolt worked as a land surveyor from 1986 to 1990 for three different companies. From 1986 to 1988, he worked for Laurel Mining Consultants, Incorporated. He then worked for Leiderman Associates, Incorporated from 1988 to 1990. He worked for Macris, Heneicks and Witman, Public Administration from 1989 to 1990. Sypolt went on to work as a professional land surveyor for Laurel Mining Consultants, Incorporated from 1990 to 1993. From 1993 to 2004 he worked as a professional land surveyor for Surveyor and Associates, Incorporated.

Sypolt's political experience began with his work as county surveyor for Preston County, West Virginia from 2000 to 2004. He was a candidate for the West Virginia State Senate, District 14 in 2004 but was not elected.[1][2]

Elections for the West Virginia State Senate took place in 2014. A primary election took place on May 13, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was January 25, 2014. Stanley Shaver was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while incumbent David Sypolt was unopposed in the Republican primary. Sypolt defeated Shaver in the general election.[3][4]

On November 7, 2006, David Sypolt won election to the open seat in the West Virginia State Senate, District 14.[8]
