Primary: He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on May 13, 2014.
General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 30.4 percent of the vote. He competed against Richard Witt. [1][2]

Hill received his undergraduate degree from West Virginia University and his J.D. from Wake Forest University.[3]
