David M. Hawkins
David M. Hawkins was a judge of the New York City Civil Court, Queens County (1st District) in New York. He was elected to this position on November 5, 2013 (effective the following January).[1]
Education
Hawkins received his undergraduate degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo in 1990 and his J.D. from Albany Law School in 1993.[2]
Career
Hawkins began his career with the Senior Citizen’s Division of the Legal Aid Society in Suffolk County, New York. He later became a court attorney for Judge Ira H. Margulis, who then served on the New York City Criminal Court in Queens County. He was the principal law secretary to Judge Margulis prior to his election to the New York City Civil Court in 2013.[2]
