Approach to the law

I have chosen to run for Dodge County Judge, not for the prestige, not to stroke my ego, but to continue my public service and to see that justice is carried out based on the facts presented in court, whether by trial or summary procedure, and applying those facts to the laws enacted by the Wisconsin State Legislature. I believe that it is important to be tough on crime, but also effective on crime for the purposes of deterring future crime and rehabilitation of the offender. Judges are given guidelines for sentencing and have to follow those guidelines, but still have the ability to fashion sentences appropriate to the individuals before the court. With our jails and prisons facing overcrowding and the ever rising cost of housing inmates, a judge should strive for effective, innovative and proper punishments for offenders, all in the name of rehabilitation and sending a clear message of deterring future crime.[4] - Dawn N. Klockow[5]
