I have 45 years in public service. I retired as a Civilian/Military Fire Chief after 38 years in the United States Air Force. I also spent 28 years with the Bakersfield City Fire Department. I retired as a Chief Master Sergeant. I have taught for the Kern High School District in their Regional Occupation program since 2015. I support Practical, Common Sense, transparent education. Children belong to their parents, NOT the government. As a board member and Trustee, why would I approve mandates or policies that I would not want my own children or grandchildren to follow ? As a teacher I fought to bring our Children back to class, and I strongly oppose masking and forced vaccinations on children and teachers.
- Transparent and common sense education
- Parent involvement in all aspects of their children’s education
- School safety and funding- Campus Security
Individual rights and personal choice. Keep politics and social agendas out of our classrooms. Children belong to their parents and not the government. I am strongly Pro Life. I believe school choice is important for holding or schools accountable in quality education for our children, and also empower or under served communities.

As a Fire Chief, I had an open door policy and would listen to my rank and file employees. I welcome complaints and constructive criticism, as long as solutions are presented. I would apply this to my position as a Kern High School District Trustee, by being approachable and holding town hall meetings when appropriate. Many parents really dig down into the policies that are pushed down from the state and federal government, and we need to listen to their concerns.
I believe that you hire the most qualified and quality people for all positions.
The pushing of political and social agendas in our schools when we can’t even graduate our children at grade level. Target and remove anything outside the approved curriculum.
Teachers who care for their students and want the students to achieve greatness. Teachers who teach students to dream and help them to set goals to be successful. Grades have been a good measurement to student success and achievement. I highly support GATE an AP classes.
Continue to partner with our community and businesses to expand our technology and technical training programs.
