Donald R. Cassling is a judge on the United States bankruptcy court, Northern District of Illinois. He joined the court on January 18, 2012, and retired on January 19, 2026.[1][1]

Education

Cassling received his undergraduate degree from Duke University in 1973 and his J.D. from the University of Chicago in 1976.[1]

Career

Cassling began his career as a law clerk to the Honorable John Brown. He went on to work with the law firms Sidley & Austin, from 1977 to 1981, Jenner & Block, from 1982 to 2007, and Quarles & Brady, from 2007 to 2011.[1]

Awards and associations

In 2010, Cassling was named on the Illinois Super Lawyers List, which was selected by the Illinois Super Lawyers Magazine.[2]

Cassling is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute and the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges.[1]
