McBride earned a B.S. in special education and language arts from Tuskegee University in 1985. She later received an M.S. in education leadership from Nova Southeastern University and a Ph.D. in higher education leadership from the University of Sarasota. McBride has worked for 29 years as a teacher and administrator. At the time of her tenure, McBride was working as a federal grants specialist. McBride and her husband have two children in district schools.[1][2]
