I have lived in Washington nearly all my life. I attended local schools and graduated from East Carolina. I taught school in Bath NC for ten years and then worked for Texasgulf (now Nutrien) for nearly 29 years. My primary job at Texasgulf was oversight of their environmental programs in North Carolina and five other states.

I am married to my wife Lois for 54 years and have two children, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. My wife and I attend First Christian Church in Washington, and I have served in several positions on the Church governing Board. I was also Scoutmaster (or assistant) for nearly 40 years.

In local governmental, I have over 40 years of active particapation. I served on both t Ihe City Planning Board and Board of Adjustments and was Chairman of both Boards.

I have served as Chairman of the County Planning Board for 19 years. I have served on the City Council for 16 years and am seeking re-election.
  • We must provide all required services in the most efficient and cost effective manner possible
  • We need to reduce electric rates
  • We need to improve drainage throughout the City
I have always looked up to my father, a man who worked hard all of his life to provide the best he could for his family. He was active in his church and community activities but always had time to for the family. H e supported us in all our activites as our number one fan

If I can be half the man he was, I will have been very successful.
Other than part-time jobs, a teacher of Math and Science at Bath High School in Bath NC for ten years from 1957-67.
