Collapse all
|In my campaign, I'm fighting for more than a single policy change, a little tweak, a minor reform-
I'm fighting for a new movement in the Golden State- a movement that seeks to forge a California with Free Markets, wild nature, strong communities, and personal liberty for all.
I want to deconstruct our failed system and allow our economy, our environment, our communities, and our people, to survive and thrive organically.
Through years of increasing violent crime and drug abuse, inflated costs of living, inhospitable conditions for workers and small business, and overall political dysfunction, a Democrat stronghold has continued to manipulate Californians into supporting the same brand of policies that have sent the state in a downward spiral since the party took power. While our wilderness is under attack, they're more concerned about criminalizing lawnmowers and setting up arbitrary deadlines for phasing out gas cars than they are with Environmental Preservation, confronting Big Ag, or fostering more sustainable, localized economies. The culture war they crafted leads us to fear our neighbors and ignore the real enemy.
It's time for something new. It's time to ditch the failed regime. It's time to heal. It's time to unite. It's time for a new paradigm in California politics, and it all starts here.- -Free Markets
I believe that every entrepreneur should be able to operate their business as they see fit without impediment by the Government, so long as they don't directly harm consumers, workers or the environment.
Government Micromanagement stifles ingenuity, and the cost of useless taxes, fees, and restrictions placed on businesses gets passed down to the consumer.
Fighting for Free Markets also means working to make sure that the State Government gives no protections or benefits to big businesses that allow them to escape legal consequence, bring them to monopoly status, or otherwise give them an artificial edge in the marketplace.
- -Wild Nature I want to fight to facilitate a harmonious relationship with the environment by promoting Regenerative Agriculture, fostering more localized and self-reliant economies, and preserving California's wilderness- not by dumping your tax dollars on fruitless renewable energy projects or criminalizing your lawnmower. If elected, I'll also fight to defend Nuclear and hydroelectric power, and make self-reliance and independence more obtainable for individuals seeking to practice homesteading or similar lifestyles.
- Strong Communities- I want to encourage and empower local charities, volunteer groups, mutual aid societies, and everyday people to take on the tasks currently left to bloated, corrupt, inefficient, and discriminatory Government services. Let's craft a society where we can depend on our neighbor, not the State. I also want to work to create a California where every adult individual is able to live their lives however they see fit, so long as they respect the rights of others to do the same. Personal Liberty allows us to transition away from a fear that people of different worldviews and lifestyles are going to force their views on us via the State, and lets us come together to work on goals collectively.
If you look over my previous answers, you will see that the principles of this new paradigm which I seek to represent cover the broad areas of Economic, Environmental, and Cultural Policy.
Regardless of one's view on his presidency, the life of frugalness, simplicity, and humility which Reagan practiced is clearly visible in his small home, preserved for decades overlooking Santa Ynez. From his king bedset made of two twin bed frames found on the property which he zip-tied together, to the fence surrounding his property constructed from decommissioned telephone poles which he built himself, to the lack of presidential insignia decorating the home, it's clear that this was a man who was compelled to run for office not by a desire for material gain or a life of luxury, but by a genuine conviction that he could serve the American people as their most powerful Executive.
I want people to be able to look back at my time as State Senator and see that whenever legislation I proposed was enacted, it was successful in creating safer communities, combatting increasing costs of living, preserving our wilderness, defending individual liberty and choice, promoting mutual aid, and providing our citizens with cleaner water, clearer air, and healthier food.
I do remember though, the 2012 Presidential election. While I was eight years old, too young to fully grasp the content of the Iowa Caucusing or the presidential debates, I could feel the excitement and hope on both sides of the aisle. The whole process of the election fascinated me, and I was also surprised to discover that there were third parties and independent candidates for president, the existence of which blew my mind for some reason or another. This would develop into an interest in outsider politics that would one day lead me to co-found the Santa Barbara County Libertarian Party at the age of seventeen.
Before I worked at the MOXI, though, I spent summers selling ice cream and occasionally refurbishing and selling vinyl records and cassette tapes at the Farmers Market.
Now how can I say that?
Well, if a legislator has poor political principles, or is looking out solely for personal interests, experience in Law or politics just means the ability to write bad legislation with less help from legislative assistants (who typically do all of the heavy lifting anyway)
That being said, if elected, I will not bend to the whims of the supermajority or confuse civility for complacency. There is a difference between cooperation and sacrificing one's principles.
Way back when I was twelve years old, I decided that as soon as I was eighteen I would run for office. I've always been the weirdo who likes to watch livestreams of Congress and the houses of the California Legislature (part of why I'm running for this particular office). I've been fascinated with every aspect of politics for as long as I can remember, and this is what I hope to pursue in some capacity throughout my life
