Elisabeth is a prosecutor with the City of Detroit and is a Special Assistant Prosecutor with Wayne County. Elisabeth was voted Detroit's Prosecutor of the Year in 2015 and 2016 and is a team member of the Veterans' Treatment Court in Detroit. Previously, Elisabeth was in private practice with a Southgate law firm where she was prosecutor for Brownstown and Huron Townships and also managed a caseload that included criminal defense, landlord/tenant matters, civil cases, consumer protection cases and bankruptcy matters.

Elisabeth attended Boston College, putting herself through school by working 2 jobs and attending classes at night. Elisabeth graduated in 2003, cum laude, with a Bachelor's degree in political science. Elisabeth attended Suffolk University Law School at night while working full time as a legal secretary and graduated in 2008 with a Juris Doctor degree.

Elisabeth remains active in her community by volunteering for Southgate Rotary Club, Southgate Education Foundation, Soroptimist International Downriver Area and Downriver for Veterans. Elisabeth serves on the Parish Council in her local church and is a member of the UAW Local 2211, Public Attorneys Association.

Elisabeth proudly resides in Southgate with her husband, Donald, and their three children, Chrystian, Colette and Corinne.
  • Elisabeth will bring bold, new ideas to the court.
  • Elisabeth is the only candidate with the RIGHT experience.
  • Elisabeth will transform the court into an active partner with the community.
1. Ensure Southgate's Veterans Treatment Court provides job training and placement, educational opportunities and other supportive programs for all our Downriver veterans

2. Provide treatment and resources for those with opioid or alcohol addiction while still holding them accountable

3. Return the Court to School program to our Southgate schools

4. Update the court's website so the public can track cases or contest traffic tickets online without missing work or school

I believe my strong work ethic, integrity and desire to bring a fresh perspective to the 28th District Court in Southgate would make me a very successful judge. Since I have started door knocking, I have heard from many Southgate residents that they desire change and new ideas. My "think outside the box" mentality would transform the court into a more active participant in the community, which I believe is what people are looking for.

The 28th District Court in Southgate is home to the Downriver Veterans Treatment Court. This is an awesome responsibility for the court to have because this specialty docket is designed to provide resources to all veterans in the downriver area, not just in Southgate. Based on my interactions with Southgate residents over the last year, I have learned that few people are aware of this unique program.

The Veterans' Treatment Court helps vets who commit crimes because of PTSD, traumatic brain injuries or addiction. Rather than just punishing them, the court treats the underlying issues that led the vet to commit the crime in the first place. It's a very treatment-oriented approach that is designed to help vets get back on their feet by providing resources that vets might not otherwise receive.

My goals for the Veterans' Treatment Court are:

1. Ensure our Downriver veterans have access to job skills training, schooling, treatment, and other supportive programs

2. Form partnerships with local businesses that want to hire veterans

3. Raise additional funding through private and non-profit organizations without costing Southgate taxpayers any money
My legal philosophy is to provide treatment and resources to the people who need them while still holding them accountable.
I have been fighting crime and working to better other communities for the majority of my career. I decided that it is time to bring that passion, experience and commitment to my own Southgate community.
It is more important for a candidate to have the RIGHT experience rather than previous government or political experience. A person running for judge could have 20 years of experience in preparing wills and handling divorces, but that experience may not adequately prepare that person to be district court judge. The next judge in Southgate must know how to run the Veterans' Treatment Court efficiently, manage a courtroom effectively and oversee hundreds of cases in a timely manner.

I am a team member of the Veterans' Treatment Court in Detroit, which involves complying with funding requirements, monitoring each veteran's progress and ensuring that the veterans receive the resources they need. I am in the courtroom virtually everyday, prosecuting cases in one of the busiest courtrooms in the country and I have seen many different factual and legal scenarios play out, so I am quite comfortable managing a heavy docket.

Because of my work as a defense attorney, prosecutor and with the Veterans' Treatment Court, I am the ONLY candidate with the right experience to take on the role of judge in Southgate.
