Erran Persley
Erran Felic Persley was a 2016 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 4th Congressional District of Tennessee.[1] Persley was defeated by incumbent Scott DesJarlais in the Republican primary on August 4, 2016.[2]
Biography
Persley received his B.A. in political science from Howard University in 1992 and his MBA in global economics and corporate strategy from Georgetown University in 2011. He has worked as an official and a partnership specialist for the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. Census Bureau. He worked for Chemonics International in a variety of positions, culminating in that of vice president for the Africa region.[3]

Heading into the election, Ballotpedia rated this race as safely Republican. Incumbent Scott DesJarlais (R) defeated Steven Reynolds (D) in the general election on November 8, 2016. DesJarlais defeated Yomi Faparusi, Erran Persley, and Grant Starrett in the Republican primary on August 4, 2016.[4][2][5]
