Flagstaff City Sales Tax Continuation, Prop 400 (May 2010)
A Flagstaff City Sales Tax Continuation measure was on the May 18, 2010 ballot in the city of Flagstaff which is in Coconino County.
This measure was approved
- YES 9,148 (73.94%)
- NO 3,224 (26.06%)[1]
This measure sought to continue the existing 1 percent sales tax, which excluded food, for a further ten years. The tax in effect at the time of this election was set to expire at the end of 2014.[2] This sales tax generated around $13 million a year for the city general fund, with nearly 60 percent of that tax paid by non-residents, proponents saw no reason not to continue the sales tax for the city. The money was earmarked to be used primarily to pay for fire and police services but also to be used increasingly for other purposes.[3]
