Gloria (Sanchez) O'Malley was a judge for Department B of the Eighth Judicial District Court in Nevada. She was first elected to the court on November 3, 1992, for a term that commenced on January 4, 1993.[1][2] O'Malley did not seek re-election in 2014 and retired at the end of her term on January 1, 2015.[3]

Education

O'Malley received her undergraduate degree from the University of California at San Diego and her J.D. degree from the University of Santa Clara School of Law.[1]

Career

Before she became a judge, O'Malley served as a domestic relations referee for four and a half years. She also previously served as a paternity hearing master and worked as an attorney in private practice.[1]

2013 judicial performance evaluation

In 2013, the Las Vegas Review-Journal sponsored a survey of 902 lawyers who rated Nevada Supreme Court justices and judges located in Clark County. 90% of respondents voted in favor of keeping O'Malley on the bench. The average vote in favor of retention for all 88 judges evaluated was 71%.[4]
