Three seats on the Glynn Board of Education were up for general election on November 4, 2014. The election was for Districts 2 and 4, in addition to one at-large seat.
Since all the candidates that filed for the at-large seat and District 2 were Republicans, the results were decided in the primary election on May 10, 2014. Incumbents Mike Hulsey and Millard Allen triumphed over Sandy Dean and Gloria Burns, respectively, and ran unopposed in the general election.
In District 4 race, Democrat Dorothy H. Stewart faced Republican incumbent Hank B. Yeargan in the November election. They were both unopposed in the primary.

Glynn County School System is located in Glynn County, Georgia. The county seat of Glynn County is Brunswick. Glynn County is home to 79,626 residents, according to the United States Census Bureau.[1] Glynn County School System was the 29th-largest school district in Georgia, serving 12,743 students during the 2013-2014 school year.[2]
Demographics
Glynn County underperformed in comparison to the rest of Georgia in terms of higher education achievement and overperformed in terms of median household income in 2012. The United States Census Bureau found that 25.8 percent of Glynn County residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree compared to 27.8 percent for Georgia as a whole. The median household income in Glynn County was $49,986 compared to $49,604 for the state of Georgia. The poverty rate in Glynn County was 17.7 percent compared to 17.4 percent for the entire state.[1]

Voter and candidate information
The Glynn County Board of Education is a partisan board that consists of seven members elected to four-year terms. Two members serve at large and five by geographic district. There was a primary election on May 20, 2014, and the general election was held on November 4, 2014. Three seats were up for election in 2014, and four seats will be up for election in 2016.[4]
Candidates began to file affidavits of candidacy on March 3, 2014. The filing deadline for school board candidates to get on the ballot in the general election was March 7, 2014.[5]

Additional elections on the ballot
The school board election shared the ballot with county, state and national primary elections on May 20, 2014. The primary ballot included races for Georgia House of Representatives and Georgia State Senate. There were also state executive elections including races for governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general. The May 20, 2014, election selected candidates for seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate.[6]
