Anderson works as the chief instructional officer ​at Cañada College. He has served in this position since 2013. He previously worked as the faculty director of the Student Success Center at De Anza College and as a member of the faculty at the University of Southern California. Anderson also has experience teaching at the preschool, elementary, high school, and college level in a number of different countries, including Lesotho, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, and Japan. He has a bachelor's degree in speech communication and English linguistics, a master's degree in TESOL, and a doctorate in education.[1]

Two of the five seats on the Cupertino Union School District Board of Education were up for at-large general election on November 8, 2016. In their bids for re-election, incumbents Josephine Lucey and Phyllis Vogel ran against challengers Gregory Anderson and Liang-Fang Chao. Vogel won re-election to the board, and Chao won the other seat on the ballot.[2][3]

Anderson reported $28,710.00 in contributions and $26,519.78 in expenditures to the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters, which left his campaign with $2,190.22 on hand in the election.[4]

Anderson was endorsed by the Cupertino Education Association, Santa Clara County Assessor Larry Stone, Redwood City Council member Alicia C.   • Masters in Teaching and Doctorate in Education
  • 30 years experience as a teacher and as an administrator. I have worked at all levels, from preschool through doctoral programs. Currently serve as VP Instruction at a local community college.
  • Experience teaching throughout the world. As a result, I understand and respect the different educational and cultural priorities in our district.
  • Deep knowledge of the operational aspects of education. My experience with education codes, curriculum, technology, instruction, budgeting, facilities and planning will help ensure that our district operates effectively and meets the needs of 21st century education.[7]
