Hope Schwartz Zimmerman is a justice for the Nassau County Supreme Court in New York.[1] She was elected to the court in 2013.[2]

Biography

According to Schwartz Zimmerman's 2013 campaign website, she practiced family law privately for fifteen years after obtaining her law degree. She worked on the Family Treatment Court and the Matrimonial Center in Nassau County before her election to the Nassau County Supreme Court and specializes in matrimonial and family law. Her professional experience also includes working as an adjunct professor at Hofstra Law School.[3]

Education

Schwartz Zimmerman received her B.A. from Rhode Island College in 1968, her M.A. from New York University in 1970 and her J.D. from the Hofstra University, School of Law in 1986.[1]

2013

Zimmerman ran for election to the Supreme Court 10th Judicial District. General: She was elected in the general election on November 5, 2013, with 14.20 percent of the vote. John Michael Galasso, Paul E. Hennings, Matthew G. Hughes, Arthur G. Pitts, David T. Reilly and Gary J. Weber were also on the ballot, competing for four open seats.[2][4][5][6]

2012

Schwartz Zimmerman ran unsuccessfully for election to the 10th District Supreme Court in 2012. She was one of twelve candidates running for six seats in the general election on November 6, 2012. She ran on the Democratic and Working Families party tickets, receiving 8.12 percent of the vote.[7][8]
