I strongly support public education. In Boone and Hendricks Counties we're blessed with wonderful public schools, but lately it seems as if our state legislature is creating more problems for public education than it's solving. As the parent of two children in our public schools, I will be a voice at the Statehouse supporting our schools, teachers and administrators, and our students. I also believe that Indiana needs to provide support for our trades and technical community, including providing training that will help ensure future job security.

All Hoosiers deserve access to quality healthcare at reasonable costs. In Indiana this has become a crisis with respect to maternal mortality, mental health, and access to quality healthcare in rural areas. I believe that not only is it imperative to provide quality healthcare, but to reduce the stigma related to mental health and working to provide greater access to services in this area. I also believe that a woman's healthcare decisions should be between her and her healthcare provider.

Indiana is one of the most polluted states in our nation. Our waterways were recently ranked as the most polluted in the nation. If we don’t have clean air, water, and land, we don’t have the most basic requirements for healthy and prosperous lives for our citizens. We must be sure that our State is doing everything possible to correct our direction in this area. I will work to pass reasonable and responsible legislation to address our state’s pollution issues.

I feel strongly that we must ensure that all Hoosiers have the basic necessities in order to lead healthy lives in our communities and which provide opportunities for continued prosperity and improvement.

These include clean air, water and land not polluted by toxic chemicals.

We must all have access to quality education and training programs so that our citizens can support themselves and their families well into the future. Public schools are vital to our students' futures.

Our small businesses are the backbone of our communities and I believe we need to work to support them and help them to have continued growth and success.

All Hoosiers all deserve access to quality healthcare and mental health providers at a fair and reasonable costs.
My top priority is securing the rights of parents to make personal, medical, religious and educational decisions for their children.

In addition, the right of each individual to make the medical decisions that are best for themselves; without risk of personal injury or violation of religious freedom is something that we must secure in the Indiana law.

Finally, we must pursue additional legislation that will secure the rights of the unborn.

There are many other areas that I am concerned about and will work with other like minded legislators to address. Some of the issues include mental health reform, harsher penalties for child sexual abuse and those who shelter perpetrators, and making sure that all Indiana child receive fair and equal education regardless of race or economic status.
There are many people whom I look up to, but at the top of that list are mothers who fight relentlessly for their children and the child of others, completely without regard to those criticizing them. You could say that I look up to the Mama Bears.
An elected official should be a person of integrity that is willing to do the right thing, even when their colleagues disagree. A legislator must always remember that they were elected by and work for the people.
To represent the concerns and voices of the majority of their constituents regardless of personal beliefs.
I would like to show my daughters, family, and friends that you can be a part of the process to impact positive changes in the world- even when the challenges sometimes feel overwhelming.
"Do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, to all the souls you can, in every place you can, at all the times you can, with all the zeal you can, as long as ever you can." John Wesley “Never underestimate the power of a small group of committed people to change the world. In fact, it is the only thing that ever has.” ~ Margaret Mead
I was in 8th grade when the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded. We were in school watching this momentous event when the shuttle exploded. We were aware that a teacher was going up in space. I still tear up thinking of her children.
I'm an avid reader across genres so this is an extremely difficult question. I would currently say The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. It contains some very powerful life lessons in a deceptively simple story.
I don't believe that previous experience in government or politics is beneficial. I do believe that a legislature comprised of individuals with a variety of education levels, experiences and backgrounds more fully represents the people of the state and the country. Given that we are a state and nation governed by the people, that variety can be a more accurate reflection of the people that will be impacted by the legislation decided by the local, state, and federal governments.
I do not believe that it is necessary for a state legislator to have previous experience as an elected official. I believe that what is needed today is for men and women of great courage to step forward. I believe it is necessary for uncompromised men and women, willing to do the right thing for the people, to step forward and run for office.
Yes, I feel strongly that our government should be working collaboratively to the best of our abilities to govern more effectively. Collaboration and compromise help ensure a balance of power and also prevents gridlock and infighting which achieves nothing beneficial for the people of our state or nation. Each legislator should accurately represent the view of the majority of their constituents; however, they should also work with their fellow legislators to achieve workable compromises to the benefit of the majority of the voters across the state and country.
I do not have future political ambitions at this time. I look forward to representing the people of District 25 and all people in Indiana in the legislature.
