James J. Torney, Jr.

James J. Torney, Jr. is the first justice for the Barnstable Juvenile Court in Barnstable County, Massachusetts.[1] He was nominated to the court by former Governor Mitt Romney on November 23, 2005.[2] Torney may serve on the court until he turns the mandatory retirement age of 70.[3]
Education
Torney received both his undergraduate and J.D. degrees from Suffolk University.[2]
Career
Before he joined the Barnstable Juvenile Court, Torney worked as an attorney in private practice in Quincy, Massachusetts. He also previously served as legal counsel for the Massachusetts House Judiciary Committee from 1983 through 1988.[2]
