Inspired to serve his country after the tragic events of September 11th, Jason proudly joined the United States Army. He served overseas in Iraq which instilled in Jason a deep sense of discipline, dedication, leadership, teamwork, and resilience. Jason learned the importance of service, self-sacrifice, and teamwork. It was an experience he calls "humbling and transformative." Upon returning home from military service, Jason went to school and graduated from the Aveda Institute. He went on to own and operate multiple successful salons for over a decade. Jason enjoyed helping his clients look and feel their best while honing his skills in business management and customer service. In addition to his work in the beauty industry, Jason pursued education in trade skills. He graduated from carpentry coursework at Atlantic Technical College and electrical at McFatter Technical College. Jason is a strong supporter of technical school and he believes that every child should be given an opportunity to learn one of many trades that very few of our schools offer today. All of this experience combined has led Jason to find a unique perspective in business management and a hands-on approach to problem-solving. In his spare time, Jason volunteers with non-profit organizations and enjoys farming and gardening. As a youth, Jason spent many summers in the great outdoors with his grandmother. Together they would walk through canyons and hike to the tops of mountains.
  • Our children's education is extremely important to me. The education of our youth has an undeniably critical impact on the success of our society. Education is not merely a pathway to personal success; it is the very cornerstone of our society's collective success. Being a product of Broward County Public Schools, I know the importance of having amazing teachers, dedicated principles and a strong staff to keep our schools on a track to success. I believe that every child deserves a better education and every child deserves to have an equal opportunity to succeed. I also believe that every PARENT deserves to be involved in the decision making of their child's education and every taxpayer deserves to know what their money is being spent on.
  • As a Veteran of the war in Iraq, I know first hand the importance of ensuring that all safety protocols are met, all safety measures are in place and both are being taken seriously. Children's lives depend on it. When I am elected, I will take the time to read every policy, document and contract that comes across my desk in order to ensure that your taxpayer dollars are not being misused. I will go above and beyond to read and educate myself on every policy and contract before agreeing to a vote. As for safety, I will continue to monitor the ongoing progress and educate myself on what other counties are successfully doing to protect their children. I strive to some day lead other counties on safety.
  • As your next School Board Member it will be my job to help the Superintendent, the District staff and the other School Board Members to stay safely within the paramotors of the over 3 billion dollar budget. In order to perform this task, I will need to be capable of working well as a team, I will need to understand the Districts “cash flow” and I will need to be able to spend a great deal of time reading/assessing documents and understanding every level of the District. While monitoring and maintaining the budget, It will also be my job to understand the Districts "cash flow" well enough in order to ensure that our teachers, principles and other staff members get the raises that they deserve.
Education is the number one policy that I am going to be passionate about. As I said before, our children's education is very important to me. We have so much work to do in order to ensure that our children are trained and capable of being able to leave school feeling confident when they leave schools and transition into the workforce.

“When a child, parent, teacher, principal or employee comes into my office I do not see red, I do not see blue, I do not see green, I do not see Black, I do not see White, I do not see Hispanic, I do not see gay and I do not see straight, instead I see someone that is in need my help and I WILL DO EVERYTHING IN MY POWER TO HELP that person with their needs.”

- Jason Lee Loring -
I personally believe that the key principles for an elected official should be transparency, reliability, accountability and simply doing what is right. An elected official answers to their constituents. In this case, your school board member should listen to and understand the views of all parents, voters and other school board staff/members. A school board member should always be transparent to their constituents. They should be reliable and show up to work and be accountable for their decisions. This job is not for the faint of heart and it takes dedication, a willingness to put one's differences aside and a person who has a backbone that will stand up for what they believe to be right. As a United States Army War Veteran these core principles are in instilled in me.
The first most important responsibility of a School Board Member is to ensure the safety of the children and staff of each and every school. The second responsibility is to insure that every child is offered the same opportunities for success. Along with that they should be taking the curriculum seriously and ensuring that every child has the best education and training we can offer in order to help them be the best that they can be. The third responsibility of a Broward County School Board Member is to represent the voices of the people in their district and across Broward County. When they vote on a policy, that policy doesn't always end at their district lines. That policy effects people across their district lines as well. If a school board member isn't transparent then they will loose the trust of their constituents. Along with all three of these responsibilities, every school board members needs to take their districts budget seriously. Without a safe budget nothing else is feasible.
The legacy I would like to leave of being extremely honest and doing everything that I could do to help others. I want to be known as the guy that did everything in his power to ensure that everyone else around him was left better off and happier. Myself, I was raised by a very less fortunate family in a very poorly rated school. I know what its like to have people around you bully me and leave me on the brink of not making it. I came from the bottom and after leaving to the United States Army and spending 8 months in Iraq I choose to strive to live a better life, where everyone/everything I touch is effected in a positive way. I strived for success and I succeeded. I wasn't at first granted the opportunities others were, but I still worked hard to find a way.
There are already measures in place to test teachers, but I believe a good teacher is willing to put in the hard work of educating our children in mathematics, English/writing, sciences and social studies. I will support teachers by making sure they have the supplies and books that they need to perform their jobs. Teachers shouldn't have to buy supplies out of their already low paychecks.
I would love to be able to expand training in trade schools. Technical classes such as carpentry, electricity, plumbing, construction, automotive, medicine, music, robotics and computers etc could set our children on a solid path to success. As a product of both Atlantic Technical and McFatter Technical I know the importance of trade schools and how they could help with filling important positions in Broward Counties work force.
First and foremost being accountable with the budget takes being educated with the budget and not making poor decisions that cost the Broward County School Board budget deficits. Trying to avoid constantly replace superintendents and being sued for not doing what was right in the first place. I would also love to discuss the possibility of allowing our trade school students to help with school repairs. They need training and the schools in Broward County need help.
The most ideal learning environment for every student is a safe space without judgment or neglect. A classroom with a teacher that cares about every single child equally and wants each and every one of them to succeed.
Fighting our state elected officials at ever turn is not something I would have done. Yes, our children, parents, teachers, principles and staffs health is important to all of us, but not following the rules being past down to us ended up costing our schools money from the state that in turn cost our teachers and students valuable supplies. This in turn also caused a deficit in the Broward County School Boards budget.
