I have 15 years of experience on the Green Bay School Board (1997-2012) a non-partisan, elected office and I have learned how to listen to all perspectives and make decisions that are in the best interest of the community. Through my work experience as a nurse and HR professional, I have developed strong analytical skills while always understanding the human side of decisions.

I have a degree in Nursing from UW-Madison and an MBA from UW-Wisconsin. I have lived in Wisconsin all my life. I grew up in Manitowoc, WI and graduated from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc. I hold professional certifications in HR as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and a Senior Certified Professional- Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). I will add my knowledge of all HR topics including salary, benefits, and employment to board discussions on these topics. In addition, my experience as a registered nurse helps me understand the importance of community health and I will always advocate to protect the health of our citizens. I am involved in our community and I currently serve as a citizen member of the Brown County Human Services Board. I also served as a member of the Facilities Task Force for Green Bay Area Public Schools. As a village trustee, I will represent Allouez and advocate for our priories.

My husband and I have lived in Allouez for 47 years and we raised three children in this community. We love living here.
  • The first of top three issues/concerns regarding the village and proposed resolution

      1. Balancing economic development while maintaining the qualities of the Village that make our community a great place to live. It is important to encourage businesses to locate and expand in Allouez. Carefully planned economic growth helps provide a tax base that the village needs and provides services that residents can enjoy. I will work with fellow trustees and village administration to support the plan for attracting business with sound incentives. I also would invite residents to provide insights as to what businesses they want to attract and where they should be located.

  • Maintaining and enhancing the services that our residents need to live safely and comfortably. I have heard from residents that they want to feel safe in the community, maintain our roads and sewers, drink clean water, and enjoy the natural resources we value, such as parks and trails. All must be priorities in the budget. Because of budget constraints and limited space, we must work in partnership with surrounding communities and school districts to secure efficiencies whenever possible. Available grants should be pursued because they can supplement the budget. Expanding the tax base by drawing business to the village is another way to maintain and enhance services. It is important to listen to residents to understand their concerns.
  • 3. Closing the Green Bay Correctional Institution. Closing the Green Bay Correctional Institution is a complex issue and if elected, I would continue to support the work of Allouez Village administration and the trustees as well as other local officials and citizens who have been advocating for this for several years. By providing data that supports alternative solutions such as building a new facility in another location and prison reform, we should be able to reach a solution. I would make this issue a priority and continue the work that is underway.
I am most passionate about the health and welfare of our citizens. I want to ensure that we have safe communities, clean water, affordable housing, quality schools, parks and areas for recreation. Polices that support and enhance these areas are what I will advocate for.
The office of Village Trustee affects the local citizens in their daily lives. We don't realize the services we come to rely on, such as roads, sewers, clean water, parks, and other village services are determined by local elected trustees. Most of the budget comes from local taxes and it is the responsibly of the trustees to ensure that this money is spent wisely. The Village of Allouez also works cooperatively with local governments, such as the Brown County Board, the City of Green Bay, the Green Bay School District and surrounding communities.
I am inspired by many of our great leaders such as Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King. The 2012 film, Lincoln, was one of my favorites. Lincoln was faced with one of the most complex issues of any president and he showed great political skill and humanity. King was able to inspire people and change minds. His words and actions remain an example of how to bring about change when it seems change is not possible.
Elected office requires a person who puts the welfare of the public before all else. An elected official is an advocate for the citizens he or she represents. An elected official must be able to study issues, listen to all constituents and those who have knowledge about the issue prior to advocating and/or voting on an issue.

One of my strengths is my ability to change my mind on an issue when feedback from the public, discussion with colleagues and data suggest that there is a better course of action. I also work very collaboratively with others and that results, I believe, in better decisions.

A key principle is to hold oneself to high ethical standards. One must not be influenced by personal gain in any way.
I have 15 years of experience on the Green Bay School Board, a non-partisan, elected office and I have learned how to listen to all perspectives and make decisions that are in the best interest of the community. I understand how to work with tight budgets and advocate for what is important to those I serve. Through my work experience as a nurse and HR professional, I have developed strong analytical skills while always understanding the human side of decisions.

I will apply my leadership skills and experience to the role of village trustee.

My husband and I have lived in Allouez for 47 years and we love living here. We raised three children and our daughter still lives in Allouez.

I hope to preserve what our residents value most while supporting sound economic development.
The core responsibilites of the Allouez Village Board are in statutes. Village trustees are to manage and control the village property, finances, highways, streets, navigable waters, and the public service. The board acts for the government and good order of the village.
The trustee should be able to devote sufficient time to attend meeting and be sufficiently knowledgeable about the issues to discuss them, offer insights, ask relevant questions so to vote in the best interests of the public. The trustee must work collaboratively with fellow trustees, administration, other governmental bodies and citizens. The trustee is an advocate for the citizens and must act in good faith in all actions.
The historic 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing. I was a teem at the time and I remember watching on our TV and reading about the excitement of all the adults. It was an amazing time.
I think that many people may not be aware of how important zoning is to the character of the village. I have learned this as I prepared my campaign. Residents like the neighborhood feeling of Allouez and zoning decisions impact how our village looks and feels. Also, trustees follow state and federal laws and local laws must not conflict with those.
I do not believe that it is crucial that the holder of this office have previous experience in government or politics. Every person who serves in elected office was once newly elected. I myself was once a new school board member, first elected in 1997 and serving for 15 years, until 2012, the last 10 years as president.

The key is that the person who is newly elected must be able to spend considerable time learning this new role. Experienced board members should mentor new members. My previous board experience helps me understand the importance of budgets as it relates to spending and the importance of collaboration with other board members and administration. I also understand how critical it is to listen to the public and keep lines of commutation open and transparent.

When elected member bring a variety of skills from their personal and professional experiences to the board table, it benefits the community and can result in better decisions.
I believe that the trustee serve the public- the residents of the village- and therefore, the trustee must be accessible in various ways- whatever it takes so that resident can communicate on any matter of concern. The trustee must be able to be able to learn and understand complex issues. This requires critical thinking. This is accomplished by reading the vast amounts of materials that an elected official receives. Then the trustee must talk to constitutes to find out how decisions affect them. They must understand the budget and work with fellow trustees and village administration so that when they vote on an issue they do it with the best available information. The trustee cannot be an expert in all matters and so must listen to experts who have experience in the subject. Also, the trustee should use data to guide decisions. When feedback from citizens, experts, data, and new information are presented, the trustee must be able to change one's mind.
Finally the health and welfare of the citizens should be the highest priority.
I believe in total financial transparency and that all conflicts of interest must be stated and clear. All required financial disclosures must be completed on time and contain all necessary information. It must be available to the public. The government is accountable to the public and all actions must be transparent. Closed session laws allow for certain items to be discussed in private, but the vote must be public.
