I'm Jen (she/they), a queer black spouse, and parent living in Fort Worth, Texas! I work for the liberation and independence of my community through innovative communications work, facilitation, and program co-design. I'm passionate about people and their capacity to thrive when equitably resourced and connected, I hope to change the way we think about our city, our resources, and our safety.

I live in District 2, and am the co-founder of Re+Birth Equity Alliance, a Fort Worth-based nonprofit organization working to inspire, protect, and build community with Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) and LGB TGNC+ people.

I'm running because I believe in our ability to thrive when we have access to resources and support.

Our community has the answers and solutions we need to thrive.

We need the City to fund resources we create instead of making deals behind closed doors.

It’s time for transformation we can feel.

  • Housing, not Harassment- We can end homelessness in Fort Worth.

  • Collaboration, not Clout- We can make City Hall work for us.
  • Growth, not Gentrification- We can invest in our communities without displacement.
I'm interested in people-first policies that increase our safety while reducing our reliance on punishment and surveillance. I believe we can have an equitable, safe, well-planned community that meets the needs of our most vulnerable neighbors.
I really find power in leaders like Assata Shakur. Leaders that believe in the power of Black love and Black lives. That values solidarity and doesn't lose sight of shared struggle. That take-no-nonsense and love fiercely while you do it kind of community organizing. She challenges me to remain imaginative, to see the beauty in what surrounds me, and reminds me that it is my duty to fight for and win my freedom. We have nothing to lose but our chains.
I've been active in the community leading up in the community- spending hours in the council chamber requesting transparency and equity- and hours in the street demanding change and justice.; and that won't change no matter the outcome of this election. We belong in solidarity with one another and we can work together to create a Fort Worth that works for all of us!
People who hold municipal office are responsible for making sure our values and priorities are reflected in the deals we make and the contracts we sign. We are responsible for actively listening, pushing back, and thinking creatively to support the solutions our communitiues create.
Get Free- Mereba

When the water's rushing up your neck

And the ground leaves your feet

Look around and see what you've got left

Did you get free?

I'm giving all of it without regret

'Cause what's the worst it could be?

In need of more than just the check-to-check

To get free

Not trying to get by (trying to get by)
I'm trying to get free (trying to get free)
Not trying to get by (trying to get by)
I'm trying to get free (trying to get free)
I'm trying to get free

I'm trying to get free
So many of the decisions that are made in the council chamber are the point where our lives meet the state. The council's choices are the point where we accept or reject the systematization of unjust policies and state-sanctioned violence. When the state entrusts us with resources to use for our community, the people that sit in that chamber decide what it looks like in our neighborhoods.
Possibly, but not necessarily. We need full community participation, political experience doesn't replace community involvement and true inclusion. We need people from our communities to be activated and involved in our decision-making!
As a community organizer, I am committed to listening fully and including the community at every level of planning. I have fierce attention to detail and the ability to Zoom out to really look at how the systems around us are creating our living conditions.
