Jim Ross was the Zone 5 representative on the Little Rock School District School Board in Arkansas from October 21, 2014, until January 29, 2015, when the board was dissolved by the Arkansas State Board of Education following poor academic performance in the district. Community member Doris Pendleton and former board members Dianne Curry, Charlie C.E. McAdoo and Ross are suing Arkansas Commissioner of Education Tony Wood and the State Board of Education over the decision.[1]

Ross had just joined the board in 2014 after defeated incumbent Jody Carreiro in a general election on September 16, 2014.[2] He would have been up for re-election in 2017.

Campaign themes

2014

Ross' campaign Facebook page posted the following campaign themes for 2014:

1. We have to bring accountability to the budget process.
2. We have to make sure we have a teacher created and teacher driven curriculum. The most important player in the education of our kids continues to be the teachers.
3. We have to make sure our curriculum is taught equitably across the district.
4. We have to start listening to our experts in the classrooms and in the district and stop listening to the bloated-overpaid bureaucracy.[7][8]
