Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I'm Jordan Hansen and I am running for School Board position 2 in the Ephrata School District as a non-partisan candidate. As a father of two children in the district, I am proud of the education they have received here. I believe in amplifying parent voices and advocating for our kids. I'm dedicated to prioritizing fiscal responsibility and supporting both career and technical education and college prep courses. With your support, I will be a dedicated advocate for our children and foster a thriving educational environment.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

• Career development training (Career Technical Education Programs).
• Invest in STEAM programs (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics) as a catalyst for student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.
• Promoting an environment that encourages respectful debate and the exchange of ideas.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I will engage parents and students wherever they are so that they know their voices are being heard. I believe that we need to have community listening sessions around topics that are top of mind for our community. I believe that we need these forums to be modeled around civil discussion and be collaborative where we model to each other and our kids that we can come together to discuss any number of topics. Ephrata is a special community where we look out for each other and I believe is a place where every student should feel welcomed, seen and accepted.
