Ureneck ran for election in the special election for Massachusetts State Senate First Suffolk District. The seat was vacant following Jack Hart's (D) resignation to take a job at a law firm. Ureneck was unopposed in the April 30 Republican primary and was defeated by Linda Dorcena Forry (D) in the general election, which took place on May 28.[2][3][1]
