Ken Lawson
Ken Lawson is the former Florida executive director of the Department of Economic Opportunity. He was appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) in December 2018 and took office in January 2019.[1] He resigned on August 31, 2020.[2]
Biography
Prior to his role as the Florida executive director of the Department of Economic Opportunity, Lawson was the CEO and president of VISIT Florida and also served as secretary of the state Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Lawson also previously worked as a federal prosecutor, assistant secretary of enforcement for the U.S. Department of Treasury, and assistant chief counsel for field operations at the Transportation Security Administration. He was a captain in the Marine Corps.[1]

Lawson was appointed as the Florida executive director of the Department of Economic Opportunity by Gov. Ron DeSantis (R). He succeeded Cissy Proctor, who resigned effective January 8, 2019.[1]
