Ken Wagner
Ken Wagner is a former Rhode Island commissioner of education. He was nominated by Gov. Gina Raimondo (D) and approved by a unanimous vote of the state board of regents on July 14, 2015.[1] He stepped down in 2019.[2]
Biography
Wagner began his career in education as a school psychologist. He transitioned to school administration and served as an assistant principal, principal, and director of administrative services. In 2009, Wagner began working in the New York State Education Department (NYSED), where he eventually rose to the position of senior deputy commissioner for education policy. He remained with NYSED until 2015, when he was nominated to become the Rhode Island commissioner of education.[3]

Wagner was nominated to be the Rhode Island commissioner of education by Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo (D) on July 14, 2015. He was unanimously confirmed by the Rhode Island Board of Education later that month.[1] He stepped down in 2019.
