Lara J. Genovesi
Lara J. Genovesi is a judge for the 2nd Department of the New York Supreme Court Appellate Division. She assumed office on June 1, 2021. Her current term ends on December 31, 2026.
Genovesi is also a judge of the New York Supreme Court 2nd Judicial District. She assumed office in 2016. Her current term ends on December 31, 2028.
Genovesi was appointed to the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division by Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) on May 25, 2021, effective June 1, 2021.[1]
Education
Genovesi received her B.A. from Siena College and her B.A. from Yeshiva University, Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.[1]
Career
Before she was elected to the Supreme Court, 2nd District, Genovesi was the principal law clerk to the supervising judge for matrimonial matters on the Brooklyn Supreme Court. She has also served as a court attorney to the Brooklyn Civil Court and has been an attorney in private practice.[2]

General: She faced Democratic candidates Wavny Toussaint, Kathy King and Evelyn J. Laporte, Conservative candidates Philip J. Smallman, Anthony R. Caccamo, Matthew A. Doheny and Dennis W. Houdek, and Working Families candidates Kenneth D. Schaeffer and Kevin R. Bryant, Sr in the general election on November 4, 2014, and won with 13 percent of the vote. Candidates competed for four open seats.
