Three seats on the Laredo Independent School District Board of Trustees were up for general election on November 4, 2014. Districts 3, 5 and 6 were on the ballot.
In the District 3 race, incumbent John Amaya faced two challengers. Amaya lost his seat to Hector J. Noyola in the general election. District 6 incumbent Hector “Tito” Garcia was set to face David Ramon, but Ramon dropped out prior to the general election. This left Garcia and District 5 incumbent Cecilia Moreno to be re-elected without opposition.

Laredo Independent School District is located in Webb County, Texas. The county seat is Laredo. Webb County was home to 263,772 residents in 2013, according to the United States Census Bureau.[1] In the 2012-2013 school year, Laredo Independent School District was the 50th-largest school district in Texas and served 24,823 students.[2]
Demographics
Webb County underperformed in comparison to the rest of Texas in terms of higher education achievement in 2013. The United States Census Bureau found that 17.2 percent of Webb County residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree compared to 26.7 percent for Texas as a whole. The median household income in Webb County was $39,449 compared to $51,900 for the state of Texas. The poverty rate in Webb County was 31.4 percent compared to 17.6 percent for the entire state.[1]

The Laredo ISD Board of Trustees consists of seven members elected to four-year terms, and serve by specific geographic district. There

no primary election, and the general election
was
held on November 4, 2014. Three seats
were
up for election in 2014.[4]
Candidates began filing nominating petitions on July 19, 2014. The filing deadline for school board candidates to get on the ballot in the general election was August 18, 2014.[5]

This election shared the ballot with general elections for U.S. House seats, Texas state executive offices and one seat in the U.S. House Senate. It also shared the ballot with other county and municipal elections. There was one statewide measure on the ballot regarding the diversion of oil and gasoline tax revenues from the state's "Rainy Day Fund" into transportation funding.[5]
