Louisiana Supreme Court delivers ruling against pipeline companies
March 20, 2010
Louisiana: The Louisiana Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday, March 16, that interstate pipeline companies must pay taxes to the state. The state supreme court declared that the pipeline firms failed to prove a state law that requires interstate pipelines pay property tax at 25 percent market value, whilst intrastate companies only have to pay 15 percent, unconstitutional. Lawyers for the state say this will free up the 70 million dollars paid under protest so far.[1]
