Primary: He ran unopposed in the Republican primary on August 26, 2014.
General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 40.4 percent of the vote. He competed against John Peck.

Lewis attended Brigham Young University and graduated from Arizona State University in 1980.[3]

Since 1980 Lewis has been the owner of Malin Lewis Distributing Co.[3]
