McKendall ran in the 2012 election for Rhode Island State Senate District 36. She was unopposed in the Republican primary on September 11. Incumbent James Sheehan was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Mckendall was defeated by Sheehan in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[1]
