Three of the seven seats on the Gilroy Unified School District Board of Education were up for at-large general election on November 8, 2016. In their bids for re-election, incumbents Mark Good and James Pace faced challengers BC Doyle and Paul Nadeau.[2] Good, Pace, and Doyle won the election.[3]

Good filed an exemption form detailing he would not spend or receive more than $2,000 for this campaign. Because of this, he did not have to file additional campaign finance reports.[4][5]

James Pace and three incumbents—Mark Good, Patricia Midtgaard, and Fred Tovar—were unopposed in the 2012 general election. Because of that, their names did not appear on the ballot, and they were re-elected by default.[6]
