I was appointed to the assistant judge position by Governor Scott in 2021 and am currently serving the people of Windsor County in this position. I have received significant praise from my judicial colleagues on my ability to hear each case in a fair and reasonable manner, as well as my fast orientation to the workings of the County and our courts. The judiciary has automated many systems used in court and my experience using technology has been a valuable asset and I have been able to assist others in our judicial system with it's use.

I have the endorsements of 3 retired assistant judges from Windsor County - Jack Anderson - Assistant Judge, Windsor, Retired, Past President, Vermont Association of County Judges, - Kenneth Cooper - Assistant Judge, Windsor, Retired, and my current colleague - Ellen Terie, Assistant Judge, Windsor, Retiring. These retired judges have a thorough understanding of the position and endorse my candidacy without hesitation.

Coming from a working-class New England background, I have lived in Vermont for the past 40 years. I love this community and have served it as both Trustee in Woodstock and Justice of the Peace in addition to building a career of significant leadership experience in business, education, and not-for-profit management. I volunteer in

I approach each case that comes before the court with active listening and empathy for the many challenges that members of our community face to reach fair and thoughtful decisions.
  • Michael has nearly 40 years of experience in serving our community as Windsor County assistant judge, justice of the peace, chairperson of the Woodstock Board of Trustees, member of Dartmouth Hillel Board of Directors, advisor to Tucker Foundation Fellows and the Dartmouth Environmental Conservation Organization, President of the Woodstock Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors as well as a community volunteer for the library, youth sports, and school district. Michael also teaches and coaches youth sports.
  • Michael was appointed by Governor Scott and is endorsed by 3 former Windsor County Assistant Judges. Michael has served as Assistant Judge for Windsor County for 1 term and is seeking election to a second term. Michael was elected 5 times and served as Chairperson for the Woodstock Board of Trustees for 13 years. Michael was elected 2 times and served as Justice of the Peace and member of the Board of Civil Authority in Woodstock for nearly 7 years. Michael served for 3 years as a member of the Woodstock Area Chamber of Commerce and was elected President of the organization.
  • Michael has managed budgets and financial procedures for operations of all sizes, including municipalities and school districts as well as for profit and non-profit organizations. He is fiscally conservative in his use of funds and particularly detailed in financial assessments and establishing of fiscal procedures. Michael served as Chief Fiscal Officer for the Tucker Foundation at Dartmouth College and Windham Northeast Supervisory Union. Michael also played a major role in budgeting as Assistant Judge for Windsor County and Chairperson of the Woodstock Board of Trustees. During his tenure, each of these organizations always ended their fiscal year on or under budget.
I am running for a second term because I believe that I can make a difference for families and individuals in Windsor County. I believe that my temperament and judgement as well as management experience are an excellent fit for this vital position. My significant budget and financial experience is important in this role to maintain fiscal responsibility and value for taxpayers.

I feel very fortunate to live in this community and would appreciate the opportunity to continue to serve.
