As a Respiratory Care Practitioner in a public health system, I thrive in collaborative environments where teamwork is critical for delivering exceptional patient care. My role requires a sharp attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Beyond my professional life, I am deeply committed to maintaining clean, accessible spaces and actively participating in community and civic initiatives. I have led public improvement projects and worked alongside volunteers in various citywide efforts. My dedication to local governance is reflected in the many hours I spend researching public documents and attending meetings to stay informed on regional matters. As an advocate for improving public access and protecting natural resources, I have been an active voice in local committees, pushing for necessary policy and ordinance changes. I believe that building genuine, honest relationships is often more impactful than experience alone. My track record of commitment to Marina is demonstrated by real, meaningful actions.
  • We are in a coastal region where home prices continue to soar pricing out many working families to buy or even rent a home. The City of Marina is in a unique position of owning 550 town house rental units and hundreds of acres land for residential development. This give the city the ability to support more affordable housing available to its local workforce.
  • Marina has multiple coastal access points within the city as well as parks and natural habitat areas to explore. I am passionate about preserving and maintaining these open spaces for wildlife environment and for public appreciation.
  • Throughout the US, there is a decline in community and civic engagement. Marina residents that were once actively involved in the community now feel ignored. I want to restore the public's trust in city leadership and ensure the resident's voices are heard. I will lead by example, inspiring a new generation of community involvement.
My passion for housing, open spaces, and community engagement drives much of my desire for public service. Affordable, quality housing is fundamental to creating a thriving community. Open spaces that define our city’s character and provide residents with access to nature. I am committed to preserving these spaces, enhancing public access, and ensuring they remain clean and safe for everyone to enjoy.
Community engagement is at the heart of my approach to governance. I believe in empowering residents to have a direct say in the decisions that affect them. Whether it’s through public meetings, volunteer efforts, or action committees, I work to foster a transparent and inclusive process that brings people together.
I would recommend The Death and Life of Great American Cities by Jane Jacobs. It’s a profound exploration of how cities can thrive when communities are empowered and connected, which resonates with my own belief in the importance of public spaces, affordable housing, and active citizen involvement. Jacobs emphasizes the need for local government to listen to the people and create spaces that reflect their needs, which aligns with my philosophy of transparent, compassionate leadership and thoughtful urban planning.
Integrity, transparency, and open communication. I believe it’s crucial to be upfront and honest with the community, ensuring that decisions are made with their best interests at heart and in full view of the public.

Compassion and empathy are equally important. Listening to the concerns of residents and understanding their challenges helps me advocate for solutions that make a real difference. A genuine interest in the community’s well-being is essential for any leader who wants to create meaningful change. These values are the foundation of my approach to public service, and I strive to reflect them in everything I do.
I love to hear people's personal stories. I love to hear about local history told by residents that have lived in the area for a long time. People love to tell stories and I like to hear them.
I believe the core responsibilities of a city council member are to represent the voices of the community, ensure transparency in government, and advocate for policies that improve the quality of life for all residents. It’s essential to be a strong communicator, staying accessible and engaged with the public, and listening to their concerns to make informed decisions.

Maintaining fiscal responsibility is also critical—ensuring that public funds are managed wisely and used for the benefit of the community. Additionally, city council members should work collaboratively with other council members, city staff, and regional partners to address key issues like housing, infrastructure, and environmental sustainability.

Another fundamental responsibility is fostering long-term planning that balances growth with the preservation of the city’s unique character, ensuring Marina remains a welcoming place for all.
That I help create policies that improve quality of life for everyone. To reduce the fear and worry people have that makes life difficult.
I remember the 1980 presidential election. That was the first time i recall being aware of the US presidency.

One often overlooked aspect of being a city council member or mayor is the role they play in other governmental boards and agencies. These appointments allow local leaders to influence decisions on a broader scale, often working with regional partners on matters like transportation, housing, or environmental policy. However, it’s important for the public to understand that the dynamics within these boards can sometimes influence the decisions made at the city level.

I believe more transparency is needed around these roles and the decisions being made, so the community can see how their local representatives are shaping policies beyond the city council chambers.
I don’t believe that previous experience in government or politics is essential for holding this office. What truly matters are strong communication skills and a genuine passion for serving people. The ability to listen to community concerns, understand their needs, and advocate for meaningful solutions is far more important than a political resume.

What makes a good representative is not necessarily their experience, but their commitment to engaging with the public, building relationships, and ensuring that every voice is heard. Integrity, empathy, and a willingness to learn and adapt are the qualities that lead to effective leadership, and that’s what I bring to the table.
What truly matters are strong communication skills and a genuine passion for serving people. The ability to listen to community concerns, understand their needs, and advocate for meaningful solutions.

I believe financial transparency and government accountability are fundamental to building trust between elected officials and the community. Public funds must be managed responsibly and allocated where they can have the greatest impact. I am committed to ensuring that all financial decisions made by the city council are open and accessible to the public. This means clear reporting, regular audits, and a commitment to explaining how taxpayer money is being used.
