This measure sought to renew the current fire levy which is set at a rate of $.15 per $100 of assessed property value for a further five years in order to continue to pay for fire apparatus and building maintenance costs in the village.[2]

The question on the ballot:
A renewal of a tax for the benefit of the Village of Mutual for the purpose of PROVIDING AND MAINTAINING FIRE APPARATUS, APPLIANCES, BUILDINGS OR SITES at a rate not exceeding 1.5 mills for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to $0.15 for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for five years, commencing in 2011, first due in calendar year 2012.[3] |
