Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

I most look up to Mother Teresa. I would like to follow the example of James Dobson because he is a committed Christian who knows the importance of the family and loves this country.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

I vaguely remember the Cuban Missile Crises, but vividly remember President Kennedy Assassination. Actually, I remember President Kennedy being elected. I would have been 7 years old.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

Working on the family farm, then working summers at the USDA Meat Animal Research Center, and then a janitorial service while a student at the University of Nebraska.

What is your favorite book? Why?

What do you believe is the ideal relationship between the governor and state legislature?

The Legislature makes the laws. The Governor administers and enforces the laws.

What do you perceive to be your state's greatest challenges over the next decade?
