New State Court judge appointed

Georgia: James E. Barker was appointed to the Douglas County State Court by Governor Sonny Perdue on Monday, July 12. Barker will serve as an appointed judge until 2012, at which point he will have to run for a full four-year term. Previously Barker has served as senior assistant district attorney for Douglas County since 1993. He was also assistant district attorney in the Tallapoosa Judicial Circuit from 1992 to 1993. Barker said this in response to hearing that he was selected out of three nominees, "I’m honored to be selected by the governor. There were a lot of qualified individuals being considered, and I’m happy he has trusted me to serve the people of Douglas County."[1]
