I will vote to expand Medicaid. Expanding Medicaid will immediately provide affordable health care to thousands of people in Western NC and help our rural hospitals survive. Our state has had nearly a decade to expand Medicaid, and it’s reprehensible that we haven't done it yet. I will work with either party to bring our federal tax dollars back to WNC and bring down the cost of health care for working families.

I will work to strengthen our economy and opportunities here in Western NC. Throughout my career I’ve been an advocate for our local businesses and economy. In the General Assembly, I will continue to advocate for more job opportunities, greater access to investment in rural areas, affordable housing, and higher wage jobs. I’ll always look out for working families.

Education is a very important issue to me. I will work to invest in our public schools with updated buildings and technology, and to retain our qualified educators and school staff. A strong school system is essential to any successful community, and we need to come together to prepare our children for the future.

I care very deeply about and will work to improve access to affordable and safe housing for working people. We can do so by increasing investment in state housing funds, working to offset the impact of sometimes important short-term rental properties, and incentivizing creative housing solutions wherever not disruptive to our natural environment.
