Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Charles Lopez (R)

Education. School choice is the Parent's choice. As an educator, I know kids can vary in learning styles. Put the kids learning needs first and allow parents to make that choice.

Caswell is open for Business. Caswell County wants and desires a business advocate in Raleigh. One of the poorest counties in NC, the residents are nervous that in 10 years, their communities will be a ghost-town.

Adoption. Make adoption more accessible to regular families that have the passion, desire, and love to take on a local child in the current foster care system.

Renée Price (D)

The Right to Vote and the Right to Representation. Our foremothers and forefathers fought, bled, and died in the valiant effort to claim the right to vote for themselves and for us. In no way can we let their efforts be in vain. As the District 50 Representative in the NC House, I will rise up, speak out, and, as the late John Lewis said, “get in good trouble” to protect and assure our right to the ballot and our right for representation.

A Sound Basic Education from Pre-K to Community College. I believe our state legislature has a responsibility to help fulfill the promise of a sound, basic education by investing in our students, school facilities, early childhood education, public school teachers and staff, and community colleges.

Infrastructure for a Robust Economy--broadband, workforce housing, and transportation I will seek to open doors so that the people of Orange and Caswell Counties have access to career- oriented jobs, opportunities for rural economic development, and inclusion in the economic wealth of this state.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Charles Lopez (R)

School choice is what parent's like me are mostly passionate about and ensuring Caswell and Orange County have the support they need to continue to grow strategically while maintaining it's small and friendly community feel.

Renée Price (D)

Criminal justice reform.

Healthcare for all, including mental, physical and behavioral health. Human rights, Civil rights and Women's rights, including a woman's right to choose.. Climate change mitigation and Environmental justice.

Tax reform.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

Charles Lopez (R)

I recall seeing the Challenger explode on the TV and then running outside to see it from my backyard.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

Charles Lopez (R)

I worked at the Flea Market for a few summers. I would sell household items. I also worked at a Tuxedo shop afterschool. I had that job for almost 5 years.
