Emerson Levy (Democratic, Independent)

School Safety and Gun Safety: I consider school safety and gun safety as the fight of my life. I have already worked to craft a bipartisan school safety bill called Alyssa’s Law to improve response times in school emergencies and I plan to bring this critical bill forward in the 2023 Session. I have been given the Gun Sense Candidate Distinction by Moms Demand Action. I am proud to be endorsed by the Bend Education Association and the Oregon Education Association.

Reproductive Rights: I am the only pro-choice candidate in this race. Since the fall of Roe v. Wade, the state legislature has become a battleground for reproductive rights. Oregonians have made it clear time and time again that they overwhelmingly support a person’s right to make their own reproductive healthcare choices without government interference. I will always protect a woman’s freedom to make her own healthcare decisions. I am proud to be endorsed by Planned Parenthood PAC of Oregon and Pro-Choice Oregon.

Homelessness: Everyone deserves to feel safe in our community. The homelessness problem in Central Oregon is complex and addressing this crisis will be one of my top priorities. The state’s role is to be a facilitator for programs that work. I support the joint task force in Deschutes County. I also support addressing homelessness as an infrastructure problem to be solved using approaches that have been successful elsewhere such as the Housing First initiative.

I am in this to make the world a better place for my daughter and all future generations. Central Oregon can and should be a leader in renewable energy. With a background as a renewable energy attorney, I am prepared to create good-paying jobs, while decreasing our carbon footprint and dismantling our reliance on other countries for energy.
Fiscal responsibility, reducing taxes, education, public safety.
