Mark Meek (D)

Reducing Homelessness and Lowering the Cost of Living: Mark Meek understands the struggles facing Oregon families. Mark was homeless and hungry for periods as a child - he knows firsthand how soaring prices and homelessness are hurting Oregon families. That’s why he’s fighting to clean up our streets and expand access to shelters and treatment programs, as well as reduce costs for working families by building more affordable housing, capping prescription drug prices, investing in childcare, and opposing tolling of I-205. The issues facing Oregon families are personal to Mark.

Improving Public Safety: As a former police officer in the U.S. Air Force, Mark has dedicated his career to protecting the safety of our families. In the State Senate, Mark will increase funding for law enforcement so they have the resources they need to fight crime, hold criminals accountable, and keep our streets safe. As a veteran, Mark also knows that weapons of war have no place in our neighborhoods. That’s why he is the only candidate who will fight for common-sense gun safety reforms that will keep guns out of the hands of dangerous and violent criminals.

Protecting Healthcare and Fighting Against Abortion Bans: Mark is the only candidate in this race who will fight against a ban on abortion, protect access to birth control, and defend a woman’s right to choose. Mark has also protected healthcare access for over 1 million Oregonians and took on the big pharmaceutical companies to cap the price of insulin and other life-saving prescription drugs.
