Pedro J. Jimenez is a judge on the Vicinage 7 Superior Court in New Jersey.[1] He was appointed in 2008 by Governor Jon Corzine and was reappointed in 2015. He may serve on the bench until he reaches the mandatory retirement age in 2036.[2]

Education

Jimenez received a B.A. in Puerto Rican and Hispanic Caribbean Studies from Rutgers University in 1989. He earned a J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law in Boston in 1992. In 2002, Jimenez graduated from Temple University's James E. Beasley School of Law with an LL.M. in trial advocacy.[3]

Career

Jimenez began his legal career as a law clerk for Judge Travis L. Francis, and then joined the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office as assistant prosecutor. In 1998, Jimenez became a Deputy Attorney General at the Division of Criminal Justice of the New Jersey Department of Law & Public Safety. He worked in the division's Economic Crimes Bureau and then the Gangs and Organized Crime Bureau. From 2002 to 2008, he also served as the Attorney General Designee on the New Jersey Supreme Court Criminal Practice Committee. Jimenez has also taught at several universities as an adjunct professor, including the Criminal Justice Program at Essex County College, Union County College, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Rutgers University, and Seton Hall University School of Law.[3]
